HIGH WALL – 14 foot (Additional criteria)
1. Falling Major injury 2 Instructors are required to safely supervise.
Additional instructors will be required when
The activity is competitive against the clock
Well practised teams are achieving or aiming for particularly quick
times
There is any doubt as to the adequacy of spotting or any other
aspect of safety on the wall. This might include special
circumstances such as language problems

1. Rope burn. Minor injury All clients must be wearing gloves whilst using ropes.

2. Strain / sprain. Minor injury Risk disclosure.

5. Head injury. Fatality All participants, the instructor and any observers in side activity area must wear a
helmet.

6. Trapped fingers. Major injury Ensure participants keep their hands clear of all moving parts (pulley systems). It
is recommended that the participant’s hands are on the rope behind the direction
of travel if pulling themselves across.
If they are being pulled across their hands should be holding onto the bosuns’
chair.

8. Equipment collapse. Fatality The instructor will closely monitor the equipment for signs of collapse. If unsure,
stop the session and check the set up making any changes needed to make safe
before continuing.
If equipment is broken do not try to repair, take out of service, mark do not use
and inform Land based Coordinator.

9. Colliding with the adjacent bank. Major injury A three disc traffic light system is to be used at pond cross. Two discs will go the
other side of the pond for slow down (Amber) and stop (Red) but on the launch
side a GO (Green) disk is to be shown before the person is pulled across the
pond.
